Former France international Florian Maurice cannot understand why concerns about his fitness are scuppering a contract with a Ligue 1 club.
Maurice left Bastia earlier in the summer when his deal expired and he has offered his services to a string of clubs.
Rennes, St Etienne, Strasbourg and Toulouse were all offered the chance to sign the 30-year-old, along with Ligue 2 outfit Guingamp.
But they declined the opportunity due to nagging worries about Maurice's fitness after he suffered from knee injuries in the past.
The forward is currently keeping up his fitness in the South of France but he is mystified why he has not secured a new club.
"Every time I proposed myself to a club, they told me: 'But Maurice is not dead? Is he not out of fitness?' said Maurice.
"I have played 69 matches and scored 18 goals in the last two seasons.
"Physically, I feel perfectly fine. My knee problems have been over for a while.
"I met Professor Jaeger and he completely reassured me.
"I know the market is closed and the clubs are waiting for the first friendly matches to make some corrections in their squads.
"But I can't understand why some clubs react that way towards me. Anyway, I am preparing without any reservations to prove I am not finished."
